Custom Mario Athletic Theme

I'm not an expert, but sometimes I like to try making music. Here's my attempt at a custom athletic theme:

Would it sound alright in an SMBX episode or does it need improvements?

Sounds a bit cartoony for a "Athletic" theme.

I think it sound good, even if it is a tad simple. I think the cartoony feel really sounds like an athletic theme. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback. I've decided instead to use the "athletic theme" as a candy overworld theme, since I feel it fits better there.
I've tried another attempt at making a proper athletic theme though, this time being a retool of a lousy song I made a few years ago.

Once again, I don't know if it's any good or if it holds a candle to any of the real Mario athletic themes. Feedback/critique (even if negative) would be much appreciated.
