What's the greatest memory you've ever had in any Super Mario game, be it retro or modern? How fun was it? How'd ya come to remember this memory for good?
1. Retro
For me, Super Mario World gave me the most nostalgia. With the Super Mario Advance 2 port my cousin decided to pass down to me with his old DS, I appreciated the big worlds and wacky enemies, and the ability to feed Baby Yoshis and ride their grown-up counterparts to take down enemies in one fell swoop! I still play this game to this day in the form of Super Mario World (SNES: NSO) on my Nintendo Switch.
2. Modern
The entirety of Super Mario Odyssey was a huge fun trip for me, I didn't even know this was going to happen when I first bought and played the game last 2017, a month after release! My greatest memories with that game were the New Donk City Festival (I loved the Jump Up, Super Star! song and the platforming segments as 2D Mario), the first time I beat the game (The Bowser escape sequence was very fun and it had a neat song to go with it (Break Free/Lead the Way)), and even the first time I beat Darker Side! I enjoyed a lot of the environments, interactions, boss battles, and dialogue too, so stuff like Metro Kingdom, Ruined Kingdom, etc. were runner-ups for some of my greatest memories in Super Mario Odyssey.
Super Mario Odyssey was very memorable, indeed. And it made me proud as a veteran fan of the Super Mario series. It's up there with 3D World and Bowser's Fury, both of which helped me get back into the Super Mario series and even SMBX as a whole!
