I thought I had to lure him down the lava (which proves very much impossible), and I finally wanted to cheese it by giving myself a hammer, then I find that there is this invisible warp available from the beginning. If you kill the boss, you just get the doorframe that indicates it. And once the boss is in lava, you get stable ground, something you also couldn't know.
You clearly have no idea how to fight this boss fight. You have to carve a gap so that you can jump out of a staircase on either side. When the boss is low enough hell just jump in the lava. Here's raocow beating the boss on his first try when he had far less experience and play time in SMBX than you have

True.
I realized that I was also wrong on the "Bronze Fortress" part, the spikes just spawn and despawn repeatedly, but that's just a bug on my side (all events go disfunctional upon first death)
Still using the legacy editor? Get SMBX2 and PGE, it will improve your experience significantly. Here's why. And remember, Yoshis are tools to be used and discarded.

Touhou-like battle with large hitboxes. ( The creator of Ancient Stars )
Why is The Creator of Ancient Stars in your top 3 episodes when you say that the bosses in it are obnoxious. I can understand there being a rare case where the bosses are not pleasant to play but the level design is decent enough to place it in top 10, but why is it 3rd on your list
The fact that SMBX1.4.4 & 1.4.5 is controller friendly with and without using Joy2Key.exe, while SMBX2* isn't!
*I'm not saying that 1.4.4/1.4.5 is superior over 2.0. They're both great updates to SMBX. I actually tried playing 1.4.4 with my new USB controller, and got surprised that it works
You keep bringing this up like there have been weekly releases to smbx2, in which we repeatedly failed to address controller support. I believe Rednaxela already stated months ago that improved controller support is on the horizon. You can find other things to choose to be annoyed by now.
Ideas are useless if you can't make them real.
All my assets from packs and episodes are free to use for non-Novaverse levels and projects, as long as proper credit is given.
I have played a fair amount of Mario fangames and Mario Maker and Editor levels, so in general I like or tolerate most of the stuff on levels.
That being said I don't like boss rush episodes. They don't have much substance and most of them just consist of palette swaps of Iggy, Larry and Mother Brain. I know putting custom NPCs is hard, but I would appreciate the effort.
Don't be afraid to make the switch to SMBX2, and don't feel pressured if you wish to not do it. Take my word for it, for I am just another casual user.

There are so many boss rush episodes bc it's like the quickest way to make an episode for everyone. I never played a boss rush and I ignore every boss rush in existence
