Hi, I'm a Noob!

Postby Tyler123 » Wed Feb 25, 2015 11:16 am

Hello, I am Tyler and I have liked Mario for quite some time now. I am fairly young and not smart enough to make a custom level nor episode yet. I would say I have played SMBX for about 2 years now. I have been watching youtube walkthroughs on this game for a while and now decided to download it. I have downloaded maybe 20 or so custom episodes and they are a blast! :) I am using a USB NES controller for this game but unfortunately I can not spin jump because there is not enough buttons. :x In the future I would love to make episodes and spend lots of time making them. If you have any questions feel free to let me know in the comments! ;) Have a good day!

I have gotten the level/world editor working, it was an easy fix. When it says error when you load the editor just hit cancel instead of the X on the top right. I can now make levels :D but it probably wont be for a while because i have school and all that crap. Once again, have a good day!

Welcome to this thing and enjoy your stay, as for the buttons: you can change button configuration in SMBX on its title screen.

I am 14, but i think the main problem here is that i have a bad PC and for some reason the level/world editor wont load. Do you have any suggestions? If so please let me know.

if youre using windows, find your Run function.
(for windows 8+, just right click the bottom left corner of the screen and hit "Run"; for other versions, click Start and it should already be pinned on the right side)

when the run box comes up, type "dxdiag.exe".
in the dxdiag box, you should start out under the "System" tab.
give the information next to "Processor" and "Memory".

I mean I'm also 14 and I placed 13th in the 10th community contest. Just try, everyone's first levels aren't all that great, but you'll only grow betteelr with practice.

As for it not loading, I really suspect it to be your Computer.

Btw h2643, he said he's using an NES controller and that's why he can't spinjump, it doesn't have enough buttons.

Bruh I'm 14, all it needs is some practice and inspiration, that's how my levels got here in the first place.
Just believe in yourself or something. (also hi)

I would try but i have spent many hours trying to get the editor working, people are saying it is because my computer is small and it is only 4 gbs of RAM and only 1.4 GHz of speed.

Welcome to the place of all things SMBX!

That is a very slow computer! Mine is 1.65 GHz dual core yet has 8 gb ram in it.

Correct, it is the computer and my controller only has 5 buttons and you need at least 6 buttons to play SMBX...
D-Pad is the arrow keys - move
B is x - run
A is z - jump
select is shift- drop item
start is ESC. - pause/exit game
